Within the top 100 most populous cities in the United States is Garland, a city in Texas that stretches across almost 60 square miles of land. Within the Lone Star State, Garland is home to the twelfth largest population; the most current population estimates available list Garland at almost 240,000 residents. Although Garland is now a bustling city, it wasn’t always that way. For Garland, it all began when settlers began arriving at what is known today as Garland in the middle of the 19th century. The city was named after the U.S. Attorney General, Augustus Hill Garland. In 1891, Garland was incorporated. And, by the 20th century, Garland was still just a small community with fewer than 1000 residents.

There are also plenty of interesting museums such as the Landmark Museum, which preserves the history of Garland throughout the decades.

When You’ve Been Served

It isn’t uncommon for one party to feel as though they’ve been blindsided by divorce papers. Perhaps you knew things were rough but you didn’t know they were this rough. Or, maybe you didn’t know that your spouse was unhappy at all. Regardless of your situation, it’s important to get the legal help you need in order to mitigate your losses to the fullest extent possible. Remember, a petition for divorce is just that: it’s a petition. It doesn’t mean that your spouse is going to get everything they ask for in a petition. If your spouse has asked for a lot in the petition, having an attorney can help ensure that your rights are protected.
