Do You Need an Attorney?

A lot of people aren’t sure about whether or not they need an attorney to process their divorce. Although no two divorces are alike, in the vast majority of cases, having legal representation is an important part of protecting yourself during a divorce. A lot of people assume that, since they don’t have a lot of issues they don’t agree on, they can just get one of the do-it-yourself divorces. However, there are so many cases where one party decides they need alimony after the divorce has been finalized. Or, maybe, they decided that they wanted more custody. Oftentimes, the divorce decree from a do-it-yourself divorce isn’t specific enough in issues such as alimony or custody. In these cases, the parties will have to go to court with attorneys to fix the confusing divorce decree.
